Attack wins battles, but good defence buys you the time to build that attack. Mini Kingdoms gives you strong defensive tools if you know how to use them.
The smart wall tool
Pick "Wall" in the 🛡 defence tab, tap where it starts and where it ends, and the game draws the whole line. Before building you see a green preview of every piece; pieces that can't be built show in red. Press "✔ Build" and the three closest workers go to work.
- Each wall piece costs only 5 stone and has 400 health.
- The auto gate option puts a gate in the wall so you never lock in your own workers and soldiers.
- Pieces join up by themselves: straight lines, corners and crossings.
Gates
A gate (20 wood, 10 stone) lets your soldiers and your allies' soldiers through — enemies have to break it. Put gates on the roads your workers use to reach the mines.
Towers
A tower shoots arrows at any enemy within 85. Place it:
- Near distant mines, which the enemy raids often.
- Behind the wall, where soldiers can't easily reach it.
- Next to gates, the weakest point of any wall.
Spear barriers
A spear barrier is drawn as a line like a wall and costs only 15 wood a piece. Anyone who hits it in melee gets hurt — knights three times as much. It is the cheapest way to slow an early attack before you have stone.
The keep itself
The keep shoots arrows, and the alarm bell sends your workers inside to hide. Every two workers inside add one more target to its volleys. Ring the bell again when the danger is over and they go back to work.
Defensive upgrades (blacksmith)
- Stone walls: walls and towers 30%, then 60% tougher.
- Armour: your soldiers take up to 18% less damage.
- Archery: stronger archers — the best defenders behind walls.
Common mistakes
- A wall that traps your workers: always leave a gate towards the forest and the mine.
- A wall with no soldiers: axemen break walls fast if nobody shoots at them.
- A huge wall too early: the stone spent on a giant wall could have been towers and soldiers. Protect the side the enemy comes from first.
