In Mini Kingdoms a bigger army is not enough. Where you fight can turn the result around.
Plateaus: high ground
Plateaus are raised areas you climb by stairs. An archer on a plateau:
- hits 25% harder on enemies below,
- reaches 30% further and sees further,
- and enemies shooting up at it hit 25% weaker.
Put your archers on a plateau above the enemy's road, with your swordsmen at the foot of the stairs.
Forests: cover
Soldiers among trees take 35% less damage from arrows and are hard to spot from afar. A forest is the perfect place for an ambush: hide in it and wait for the enemy army to pass.
Open ground: knight country
Knights are 20% stronger on open ground away from trees and buildings. Don't send knights through narrow forests — send them around the enemy army across the plains.
Hitting from behind
A melee hit on a soldier walking away from you is 50% stronger. So:
- don't pull your army out of a fight for no reason — the enemy hits your back;
- strike the enemy army from the side as it marches on your walls.
Formations
Select your soldiers, then pick a formation:
- Line ▬: spearmen and swordsmen in front, archers and mages behind, priests and ballistas at the back. Best for most battles.
- Box ◼: fighters outside, archers and priests inside. Great when you are surrounded.
- Loose ⁘: a simple grid with no roles, for moving fast.
A group walks at the speed of its slowest member so it stays together, and small dots show where each soldier will stand.
Stances
- ⚔ Attack: chase any enemy in sight.
- 🛡 Hold: stand firm and never get pulled away — the best for archers behind walls.
- 🔁 Patrol: tap a point and they walk between it and where they are.
- 🏃 Retreat: ignore the enemy and go back to the well to heal.
Groups
Long-press 👥1, 👥2 or 👥3 to save the selected soldiers; tap it to select them and move the camera to them. A double tap on a soldier selects all your soldiers around him.
